BSG Ecology has been involved in over 75 wind farm schemes across the UK. We regularly undertake pre-screening assessments, baseline survey, prepare Ecological Impact Assessments and provide expert witnesses for wind farm Public Inquiries, typically working closely with other technical disciplines.
Birds and bats are key ecological considerations for onshore wind farms. BSG has an experienced ornithological team and is at the forefront of bat survey, research, mitigation and assessment.
We regularly provide ecological support for Energy from Waste projects. Assessments for these facilities are complicated by the potential for remote effects (through deposition) in addition to effects within the development area. These developments need detailed scoping, close liaison with other scientific disciplines, and are often subject to Habitats Regulations Assessments.
We also provide advice to support anaerobic digestion plant projects.
We have provided ecological advice in support of successful solar farm planning applications across southern England. Such work typically involves site assessment, liaison with key consultees and, for some schemes, identifying and devising ecological mitigation, compensation and enhancement. Solar schemes can
offer a good opportunity for environmental gain.
